Celebrate World Vegetarian Day and Month! Honored every October 1st since 1977, the day was founded by the North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS) and seeks to "promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism."
About one million people a year become vegetarians in the US alone, joining the countless millions worldwide who already follow vegan or veg diets! On the 1st and throughout the month of October (World Vegetarian Month), help this number to grow by spreading "awareness about the ethical, environmental, health, and humanitarian benefits" of a vegetarian lifestyle. For instance, you can:
~Get together with other veggies for a fabulous veg meal and discussions.
~Offer non-veg friends and family an opportunity to go veg for a day by sharing tasty vegetarian/vegan treats and information about the benefits of going veg (even if just for a day).
